Earlier in the game, South Africa Women Under-19 got off to a flier as they put on 56 runs for the opening wicket in just four overs. It was Simone Lourens who ran a havoc over the Indian bowlers. They slowed down a bit after losing the first wicket and ended their innings for 166. From the bowling point of view, Parshavi Chopra was the pick of the bowlers with her spell of 4-0-15-1. Shafali Verma was quite economical and bagged two wickets while Sonam Yadav took one.
South Africa Women Under-19 were fine with a ball at the start. They struggled to get wickets at regular intervals and a 26-run over from Nthabiseng Nini was quite expensive as well. Miane Smit, Madison Landsman, and Seshnie Naidu bagged one wicket each for their team. They will be looking to leave this behind and bounce back into the league.
India Women Under-19 started off steadily with both the openers playing safe but Shafali Verma charged up on the sixth over from Nthabiseng Nini and scored 26 runs to get India in the driver's seat. She was dismissed by Miane Smit in her first over after scoring 45 off just 16 deliveries. After her dismissal, Shweta Sehrawat carried on with the good work and kept the scoreboard ticking. She scored 92* off 57 deliveries and won the game for India getting some support from the nonstriker's end as well.
